Feathers & Hope

Photographs and video based on performance, feathers, photos printed on acrylic

Photographs 16" x 16" each

Feathers and Hope is a photographic performance exploring themes of visibility and transformation. Over a three-hour process, I gradually covered myself with white feathers in one series and black feathers in another, photographing each stage. The feathers slowly obscured my identity, transitioning me from woman to bird to an unfamiliar, almost monstrous creature. The physical discomfort and claustrophobia contrasted with a sense of mythic metamorphosis, raising questions about the politics of being seen and unseen, and the ways identity can both emerge and dissolve in the act of transformation.
