Gravitational Pull
Map transparencies, metal light, cord
Gravitational Pull is a four-foot-diameter hanging globe constructed from a map dissected into 240 transparent fragments, each piece resembling a tectonic plate suspended on steel rods. Backlit, the translucent map draws the viewer's eye to its center, where hundreds of tiny golden figures appear to gravitate toward the light source. This convergence evokes both implosion and explosion, merging sci-fi aesthetics with a commentary on the fragile state of humanity. Reflecting on political turmoil, climate change, and collective anxiety, the work captures a world seemingly on the brink, challenging viewers to confront the forces pulling us together and pushing us apart.
